Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission, together with the National Energy Administration, jointly issued the Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Biomass Heat Supply. The Opinions clearly regard biomass heat supply as an important measure to deal with air pollution, accelerate the application of biomass heat supply in regional civil heating and heating in small and medium-sized industrial parks, and build a distributed green, low-carbon, clean and environment-friendly heating system.

According to the planning goal, by 2020, the installed capacity of biomass cogeneration in China will exceed 12 million kilowatts, the annual utilization of biomass briquette fuel will be about 30 million tons, the annual utilization of biomass gas will be about 10 billion cubic meters, and the total annual direct replacement of coal heating by biomass energy will be about 30 million tons.

It is reported that, as a green, low-carbon and clean economy renewable energy heating mode, biomass heating mainly uses biomass cogeneration and biomass boiler heating to directly replace fossil energy at the user side, and plays a huge role in replacing county and rural coal-fired heating.
