In 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced 98 intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects. Over the past three years, with the strong promotion of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and in addition to the industrial Internet pilot demonstration projects including the manufacturing cloud platform spun off by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2016, the number of intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects has reached and exceeded the goal of "cultivating 100 intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration enterprises by 2018" as stated by Huai Jinpeng of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2015.

In 2016, OFweek Industry Research Center said in summing up the characteristics of intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects that the concept of intelligent manufacturing will expand in breadth and depth in 2017. From the perspective of regional distribution, except for a few provinces, the distribution of intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects in 2017 has gradually expanded to the whole country. Among them, the construction of pilot demonstration projects in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hunan and Guangdong provinces has achieved brilliant results, and the number of projects has increased by more than 4; Gansu, Jilin and Qinghai provinces have achieved a breakthrough of zero number of projects; At the same time, the projects are concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta; Except Shandong, the number of pilot demonstration projects in the Bohai Bay area is not growing as fast as that in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta.

From the industrial distribution of intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects, it can well reflect the development trend of intelligent manufacturing towards depth and breadth. In addition to the traditional automobile, food and beverage, chemical industry, electromechanical, clothing and textile, household, cable and other industries, the 2017 project involves the construction of intelligent manufacturing projects in hot industries such as new batteries (lithium batteries), remote operation and maintenance, new materials, instruments and meters, robots, and traditional industries such as agricultural deep processing.

From the strength of the construction of intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects in various regions in 2017, it is expected that in 2018, the construction experience of existing intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects in various regions will continue to develop steadily. Among them, centering on the concept of "the Belt and Road", relying on infrastructure and high-end equipment, the development speed of intelligent manufacturing projects in the central and western regions may be higher than that in the eastern regions; Among them, Guizhou will make breakthroughs in intelligent manufacturing projects around big data, display, beverage and other industries; Sichuan and Chongqing will make breakthroughs in the fields of intelligent complete equipment, automobiles, robots, consumer electronic terminals, etc. In addition, from the perspective of the industry, the demand for intelligent manufacturing should come from individuality

Industries with higher demand for customization and flexibility, including scene industries such as clothing, food, housing and transportation for the C end, and scene industries for the B end of the supply chain.
